Parasitic Draw Testing

This situation can lead to significant amounts of wasted time attempting to verify the source of the parasitic draw if the service technician is not aware that the system exists or how it operates. Unplugging the battery saver relay will verify the source of draw. Unfortunately just locating the relay can be a bit of a project. One simple shortcut is to simply look in the under dash relay panels and feel for the relay that is warm to the touch. If the draw subsides with the relay removed then the suspect circuit has been identified. Unfortunately, in the case of the Battery Saver Relay circuit, this only proves that the circuit is operational. It does not prove that the timer function within the GEM functions properly, de-energizing the relay after timeout.
